When Leadership Feels Hollow: Rediscovering True Purpose and Worth

ree

Have you ever woken up and felt like what you’re doing doesn’t align with your purpose… but you’re not even sure what your purpose is?

If so, you’re not alone. As Christian men (husbands, fathers, business owners, pastors, or just everyday leaders), it’s easy to find ourselves going through the motions. We lead teams. Our families. We attend church. We check the boxes. But inside, something feels off. There’s a quiet ache, a disconnect between who we are and who we thought we’d be by now. Ever felt that? Maybe you’re feeling that now. I know I have.

Some days, you question whether your life is making any real difference. Other days, you wrestle with feeling like a failure, even when others see you as strong. And we won’t even get into the comparison trap we have as men when we look at what other people around us are doing (we’ll save that topic for a future post).

Here’s what I’ve discovered: this is more than just burnout. It’s a crisis of self-worth and spiritual identity (and how they tie together). And it’s exactly where the enemy wants you…doubting yourself, doubting your purpose, and drifting through leadership without real direction.

But here’s the truth:

Your worth was never meant to come from what you do. Your worth comes from whose you are.

Biblical Truth for the Struggling Leader

Ephesians 2:10 says,

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”

God doesn’t create mistakes. And He certainly doesn’t create men to live out someone else’s version of success. You were handcrafted by the Creator for a purpose, one that may look different from what the world defines as “leadership.”

But to lead well, you first have to believe that you are worth following.

Romans 12:2 challenges us:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Sometimes, your current struggle is God’s way of inviting you into something deeper. He’s not punishing you. He’s positioning you to step into your true calling, one that is less about performance and more about purpose.

You Can’t Reignite Alone

If you’re reading this and nodding your head, know this: God never designed leadership to be a solo mission.

We believe every Christian man needs a safe, truth-filled space to wrestle with questions like:

  • Who am I in Christ—really?

  • What is God calling me to build?

  • How do I lead with purpose when I feel so empty?

That’s why we created Reignite Leadership: a Christ-centered coaching experience designed for men who are ready to trade burnout for boldness, confusion for clarity, and fear for faith.
