Restoring What's Broken: When You're Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired.

Updated: Mar 4

I get where you are. You've messed up. You've hurt others. You're feeling so overwhelmed by where you are and the choices you've made. Maybe it was a big moral mistake. Maybe it's your leadership style impacting others. Or maybe you're just at a place where you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. I get it. What do you do about restoration from moral failure?

The truth is, you're not created to be where you are. I'm sure you know that, but I'm also sure you're saying to yourself, "Tim, you don't know what I've done." No, I don't (at least not yet). But I do know that God does and doesn't want you to walk through it alone. And it's quite possible you're facing the reality that you feel like you can't talk to anyone around you because they might be the people you've hurt the most.

We don't have to be defined by the choices of our past. I once had someone tell me, "You'll never be who you were created to be because of your past." I believed it for a long time. And as a result, I became the best as self-sabotaging. I kept failing because I believed that I deserved that. Sound familiar?

But here's the thing you need to know: when someone tells you that you will never be good (enough) again, that is a lie from the pit of Hell. Satan wants you to think that. Others may want you to think that. But God thinks very different about those who confess their sins (James 5:16). Healing can happen. Forgiveness can be experience. Mercy may be shown. Freedom from guilt can be experienced. God is faithful and just to forgive (1 John 1 8-9). He promises to forgive us...but the Scripture says "...and purify us from all unrighteousness."

So let me ask you (and someone once asked me pointblank), are you willing to pay the price? There's the price of discipline, and the price or regret. Which one do you want to live in? Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? Then let's start working it out. The person you will be in a year or two from now will thank you, and so may those who are impacted by your choices today. You'd be surprised what God can do for those who set up and work on the tough stuff. Trust me.

Jeremiah 29:11-13: "For I know the plans I have you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call to me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
